The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Changes Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
